GREEN BEANS :: 2018 STATS

Last, but certainly not least, 391 green beans left our hands and went to food pantries to distribute to the vulnerable and in need.

That was about 25 pounds worth! 🙌🏻

We planted three green bean plants, which only gave us one or two beans in the spring. Then they were ravaged by grasshoppers and animals at the end of summer. We thought of pulling them out, but didn’t have anything to take their place, so we left them. After our consistent neem oil applications, they ended up rebounding, more lush than before, and grew all of this, just in the few weeks right before our frost came.

Why do we grow green beans?
Green beans are a rich source of vitamins A, C, and K, and of folic acid and fiber. They have similar nutritional benefits to snap peas and okra. As they are also a good source of magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium.

One of the biggest lessons we learned this year was never to lose hope on life finding a way. 🌱
