AWE AND HUMILITY WHILE WATERING

IMG_1340.JPG

I wish I could walk everyone through this garden and show you how well created it all is. Not what we’ve done, but the plants themselves. I’d run through like a child though, zig zagging from plant to plant in some sort of unorganized excitement, hardly finishing one sentence before dragging you by the hand to another plant and yelling, “BUT look at THIS!!”

And I’m still figuring it all out. I’m still noticing new things. All the time. And learning constantly.

One evening, I was trying to figure out how best to water the huge cabbage, and I’m trying to poke my hose under these ginormous leaves that are the size of my head, and it’s hard and a pain and then I hear a whisper inside that says, “water them how God does”, and so I start watering from above and it all filters straight down the center to the root system. Like some sort of clear design that I missed at first. And you know I laughed out loud.

Why I overthink or try to re-engineer something that’s already been worked out, I’ll never really understand. But, gardens? They have a way of striking you with awe and humility all at once. And maybe that’s the way it’s meant to be? Experience the awe to promote greater humility. 💚
