APPLE TREES

Most apple, plum, sweet cherry and pear trees are cross-pollinating or self-unfruitful, they need another tree for pollination, and not one of the same variety, but a different variety of the same fruit. It reminds me of relationship and how beautiful it is that it’s echoed even in nature - a carefully and wonderfully made system.

So when one of our trees started flowering and the other was still sleeping, I was like, “Uh, dude. Stop hitting the snooze button. Time to wake up!” I mean, look at him in the photo. That’s today. He’s just becoming aware that it’s spring.

Talking to my Mom, I told her I don’t know that this will work, because I don’t know of other apple trees in the area and thought of even getting more trees to help “fix the problem”. #controlfreak But she said, “The bees will find other apple trees.” And I was like, “Oh. Ya. Sure. Okay.”

I didn’t buy any other trees, trusting the process, through clenched gritted teeth.

So, as I was out watering last night you could imagine my surprise when I noticed little apples growing! The bees found other apple trees and the whole thing seems like yet another little miracle. And all the 🙌🏻 praise hands 🙌🏻 went up and we may have danced around the yard a little bit. Or a lot. But who is counting dance minutes anyway?
